What's it like to work in a Forest School?
Forest School is rooted in six guiding principles that shape everything we do, from the rhythm of our sessions to the relationships we build:
• Long-term, nature-based learning: Our programmes run year-round in our beautiful woodland setting, allowing children and staff to form deep, lasting connections with the natural world.
• Holistic development: We support the whole child — emotionally, physically, socially, and spiritually. As a practitioner, you’ll help nurture resilience, creativity, and confidence through meaningful outdoor experiences.
• Supported risk taking: We embrace challenge and adventure. Staff are trained to guide children safely through tool use, tree climbing, and other age-appropriate risks that build self-belief and independence.
• Learner-led exploration: Every child’s journey is unique. You’ll observe, adapt, and co-create experiences that follow their interests and spark their curiosity.
• Qualified, reflective practitioners: We’re committed to professional excellence. All staff are supported to gain and maintain Forest School qualifications, with regular CPD, supervisions, and reflective practice built into our culture.
• Natural Spaces as co-teachers: Our woodland is more than a backdrop, it’s a living, breathing part of the learning experience. You’ll help children tune into the seasons, wildlife, and rhythms of the forest.
