About Forest School For Life

Limitless learning opportunities for children from six months old to eight years

What is Forest School For Life?

Forest Schools are child-centred, outdoor learning experiences for children, which provide hands-on experiences in the natural environment. Through adopting a holistic approach to learning and personal development, forest school children are encouraged to connect with nature whilst building resilience, confidence and learning vital life skills.

Forest School for Life is more than just a place to play outdoors – it’s a child-centred approach to early education, rooted in nature and built on trust, discovery, and connection.

Our team believe in giving children the freedom to learn through movement, curiosity and meaningful experiences in a woodland setting that inspires. Whether it’s feeding the animals, building dens, spotting bugs or planting vegetables, every part of the day is purposeful and full of fun.

Our curriculum is varied and adapted to the seasonal changes. Our values are shaped by nature. And our children grow strong, resilient and ready for life.

Forest School principles

We blend the popular Forest Schools Philosophy with our own ‘Bigger Than Us’ curriculum to give meaning and a sense of ownership to every learner, at every age.

The six principles all forest schools share are as follows:

Long-term: Forest school is a long-term process of regular visits to encourage growth and development, rather than one-off visits. We are proud of the community we have built.

Natural environment: Taking place in a natural woodland, we support the development of a lifelong relationship between our children and nature.

Holistic: We promote the holistic development of all our learners, to create independent, resilient and creative young people.

Supported risk: We encourage all our forest children to take supported risks so they can better learn and develop.

Qualified practitioners: Forest School For Life is run by qualified practitioners who are also invested in their own professional development.

Learner-centred: Children are encouraged to take the lead for their own learning, inspired and driven by curiosity and a desire to grow.

Our setting offers a sense of freedom to unlock genuinely raw creativity and empower individualism. An inspirational child led approach to early years education. Kindness, compassion, inclusivity and diversity. Our children immersed in nature and learn hands on skills from an early age. Everything they learn is meaningful and experiential.
